Back in the 1800s Italian immigrants arrived at Ubrique and introduced this small Spanish town to leather trade. Since that moment, the importance of leathercraft continuously increased, until it became town's primary industry. Today, local manufacturers focus mainly on cowhide, combining traditional artistry with modern techniques to achieve best results.
We were surprised to find out that Ubrique’s leather supplies the biggest names in the fashion industry - Chloe, Gucci, Loewe and Louis Vuitton. 75% of Spain’s leather goods come from Ubrique, and some factories produce more than 1500 bags per day.
