Welcome to Gyeongbokgung Palace

Our adventure began with a visit to Seoul's main palace, Gyeongbokgung. As we journeyed there, we soaked in the rich history of the palace and the city, building our anticipation for what lay ahead. And guess what? We learned that people wearing traditional Hanbok Korean clothing can enter the palace for free! We jumped at this chance and dressed in royal-like traditional dresses, making us feel like princesses stepping back in time.

Next, we treated ourselves at "Knotted," Seoul’s most famous doughnut shop. Believe us, once you try their mouth-watering pastries, you'll understand their popularity instantly!

Traditional Hanok Neighborhood in Seoul

Our day continued in the most expensive residential part of Seoul, home to over 1500 Hanok houses. Here, we immersed ourselves in local culture by visiting a traditional Korean liquor store, where we sampled five different types of liquor. What an experience!

Lovely Korean Local Lady to the Rescue

All that exploration worked up our appetites, so we capped off our day with a delicious traditional Korean dinner. But the adventure wasn't over yet! We were moving into our home exchange, which required navigating the bustling Seoul metro. A bit lost and confused with the directions, we were rescued by a lovely local couple who graciously offered us a lift. It's these unexpected moments of kindness that truly make travel special.
