UNIQUE FIJI EXPERIENCES πŸ‡«πŸ‡―πŸ– Visiting a Fiji School & Cooking a Fiji Lovo

Bula from Fiji!

Join us on a tour around Fiji as we continue exploring this patch of Pacific paradise.

You’ll also see how the Fijians are warm and welcoming people and beyond amazing hosts.

Visiting a Local School in Fiji

As you probably know, our girls have been homeschooled most of their lives, so whenever we get an opportunity to visit a local school around the world, we are more than happy to.

Such was the case with a local school here in Fiji, where we had the chance to meet the kids, talk to their teachers, observe their way of teaching and learning and tour their premises.Β

We had so much fun taking part in this activity because schools are probably among the best places where we go to immerse ourselves in the local culture and learn about their traditions.Β

Visiting a Local Market + Cooking Dinner Fiji StyleΒ

Talking about traditions, Dean, the caretaker of the Home Exchange where we stayed, invited us for a traditional Fijian dinner. But this was no ordinary meal - it was cooked underground, in a pit!Β

Before we started preparing the food, we headed to a local market to pick up some ingredients. On our way there, we made a stop at the ATM and realized Fijian bills were so pretty.

By the time we were back, Deab was ready to start preparing the food, and the girls were so happy to help and learn about a new style of cooking.Β

As the pit was being heated, Dean wrapped the food in banana leaves and then literally buried them in the pit!

We had some delicious chicken and cassava - a woody potato-like shrub also known as yuka in North and South America.

Enjoying a Fiji ResortΒ

The next day, we spent enjoying ourselves at a local Fiji Resort. After two years of no international travel, we were so excited to see people from other countries. And since this was the first tourist place we visited in Fiji, we literally couldn’t wait.Β

But it seemed like we would always prefer seas and oceans over pools and spas. We were so impressed with the warm, turquoise waters of the Pacific Ocean that we kept going back to the shores to snorkel and explore the aquatic flora and fauna that lived in the shallows.Β

Enjoying the Company of a Local Fiji Family

In the evening, we were invited into Dean’s home to meet his family and experience the Fijian way of living firsthand. They really are the sweetest, most welcoming people.Β

This video comes with a bonus at the end! Our talented Chloe, who btw has never played the guitar before, is performing a song for all of you, our amazing fans!

Stay tuned, and be sure to follow and subscribe for more interesting videos from our adventures around the world.Β Β
