EPIC MIDDLE EARTH ADVENTURE 🇳🇿❤️ Lord of The Rings Shire Tour New Zealand

Hi everybody! Join us as we take you on a real Middle-earth adventure in Hobbiton, New Zealand!

 

If the first thought that came to mind was Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit movies, you are absolutely right!

 

Known as one of the most unique and detailed movie sets in the world, Hobbiton is a charming location perfect for a day trip from Rotorua or Auckland.    

 

It’s one of the busiest movie sets, hosting around 300,000 visitors a year! The entrance fee is $90 for adults and $44 for kids. 

 

Since we got there a little early, we grabbed a quick bite, had some delicious coffee, and looked at the map of Hobbiton. Over 40 Hobbit holes are scattered across a 500-hectare sheep farm.

 

The tour started with a short bus ride on which we saw a video of Peter Jackson, the director of the LOTR and the Hobbit trilogies.  Did you know that finding the perfect tree that would match the description of the one in the books was crucial for choosing this exact property to have Hobbiton built on? 

 

And finally, it was time for Hobbiton!

 

A quick orientation later, we were ready to dive into a world of fantasy and fairytales! Right away, you notice how detailed the Hobbit homes are. Bilbo Baggins is even decorated inside.

 

Hobbiton is truly an Instagram paradise, so we took our time making some cool shots. Then we continued on to the Green Dragon (their actual pub), where they were serving ginger beer as part of the tour!

 

Hobbiton also offers themed parties where people dress up as the actual movie characters, as well as night tours that end with a delicious dinner at the Green Dragon pub. 

 

We LOVED our Hobbiton tour! It was so much fun exploring this unique filming location and learning about how it came to life.
