Gospel Youth Camp: An Unforgettable Adventure in the Swiss Alps

There's something magical about the Swiss Alps that makes every experience there extraordinary. When our girls - Julia, Angelique, and Chloe - had the opportunity to attend Gospel Youth Camp in the breathtaking Valais region, we knew they were in for something special. Little did they know just how amazing this adventure would become! 🏔️

The Journey Begins

The adventure started with a scenic train journey from Germany into the French-speaking part of Switzerland. As any experienced traveler knows, sometimes the journey itself is part of the experience. The girls enjoyed watching the landscape transform from German countryside to the majestic Swiss Alps through the train windows.

But the real excitement began with the bus ride up to the camp. Picture this: a winding road climbing higher and higher into the Alps, each turn revealing more breathtaking views, until finally arriving at a charming Swiss chalet that would become home for the next four nights.

Life at the Swiss Chalet

The camp kicked off with a creative twist - rap introductions! Nothing breaks the ice quite like trying to rhyme your way through an introduction. It was the perfect way to start forming the friendships that would become so precious over the coming days.

Daily Adventures

Exploring Grimentz

Julia and Chloe spent one day discovering the picturesque village of Grimentz. This quintessential Swiss village captivated them with its:

  • Narrow, winding streets
  • Traditional Swiss chalets
  • Stunning displays of red flowers
  • A surprisingly fun mini-putt course!

Glacier Adventures

While her sisters explored the village, Angelique took on a more challenging adventure - hiking to an altitude of 3000 meters! The reward? Discovering the magnificent Moiry Glacier and views that literally take your breath away (though that might have been the altitude! 😅).

Camp Activities

The camp schedule was packed with activities that kept everyone engaged and excited:

  • Volleyball matches
  • Tennis games
  • Mountain hiking
  • Treasure hunts (complete with an unexpected thunderstorm adventure!)
  • Glacier river swimming (for the brave!)
  • Cookie baking in a professional-grade kitchen

The Great Storm Adventure

One of the most memorable moments came during a mountain treasure hunt when Mother Nature decided to add some extra excitement. The group found themselves racing against an approaching storm, complete with thunder, lightning, and hail! It's these unexpected moments that often become the best stories.

Creating Memories in the Kitchen

What's camp without some comfort food? Angelique put her baking skills to work in the chalet's impressive kitchen, whipping up her famous oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. The state-of-the-art kitchen (Gordon Ramsay would approve!) made the baking session even more special.

Final Night Fun

The camp concluded with an all-night games session - because who needs sleep when you're making memories? It was the perfect way to cement the friendships formed over the previous days.
