How to Make Authentic Swiss Cheese Fondue
This video is a little embarrassing because any Swiss person will think we're nuts eating cheese fondue in 30 degree weather. It was supposed to be raining when we decided to have this meal but the weather prediction was wrong and we we were committed. 🙂
We hope you enjoy and if you've never had Swiss fondue you've got to try it!
Here's the recipe with everything you'll need to make it:
- 1 garlic clove, halved
- 1 pound Gruyère cheese, grated
- 1/2 pound Vacherin cheese or other Swiss cheese, grated
(in Switzerland you can buy bags of pre-shredded mixed cheese called "Moitié-moitié", meaning 'half and half'.)
- 1 cup dry white wine
- 1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1 1/2 tablespoons kirsch
- Freshly ground pepper, paprika and nutmeg
P.S. Make sure to have Kirsch since this will bind the cheese together and if you want to cheat, you can always buy a Swiss made pre-mixed blend)
