Madrid, Spain’s capital allure is unquestionable. The city is very popular because of its Real Madrid football club and the Spanish Royal Family.
The name ‘Madrid’ is believed to be more than 2200 years old. According to Arabic records, it derives from ‘Mayrit’ or ‘Magerit’ which are the old names of Madrid meaning ‘place of abundant water.’
Nowadays Madrid if full of surprises, from grand architecture and appealing plazas to high-flying fountains and iconic marble statues. It’s architecturally perfect with high-end decorations and with three world class art galleries, all placed in the Golden Triangle. The three major art galleries of Madrid are located pretty close to each other. They are the Prado, the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza and the Museo National Centro de Arte Reina Sofia.
If you plan to take a trip to Madrid, you must go to the heart of Madrid, the Plaza Mayor, and the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. A trip to the Royal Palace is also a great idea. It’s the official residence of the Spanish Royal Family and it spans across 135,000 square meters (1,450,000 sq ft) of floor space with 3,418 rooms making it the largest royal palace in Europe by floor area.
