Grasse France – Perfume Capital of the World
Join us today on a tour of Grasse France!
Grasse France is known as the town of a thousand scents. It's nestled between the Mediterranean and the French Alps and has been the perfume capital of the world for three centuries.
All the surrounding hills around Grasse are filled with beautiful colored flowers that are hand picked each year and then turned into the most exquisite perfumes like Dior and Channel. The city is proud to produce over two-thirds of France's natuaral aromas (for both perfumes and food flavoring).
While in Grasse, you should definitely visit their famous Musée International de la Parfumerie (International Museum of Perfumery) and the three perfume houses - Fragonard, Molinard, and the oldest one, Gallimard (which dates back to 1747) .
These fantastic places will give you a chance to learn about how perfume is made and the history of this glorious industry. Also, you’ll get to smell all the different blends, which will be a paradise to your olfactory cortex.
All of these places offer free guided tours in several languages and gift shops you will enjoy. At Molinard, you can even learn how to make your own perfume.
