Day 1: Exploring Rome’s Highlights
We started our adventure with a stay at a cozy Home Exchange—our go-to choice for traveling like locals. Rome is a bustling city, so we set out early, hoping to beat the crowds. Our first stop? The iconic Colosseum! It was just a few metro stops away, and the early morning light made for some amazing photos and videos. Fun fact: the Colosseum could hold between 50,000 and 80,000 spectators and is the largest amphitheater ever built.
Next, it was time for a historic first: Angelique’s first-ever espresso! We found a quaint coffee shop and indulged in authentic Italian espresso and pastries—truly an experience!
Palatine Hill and Ancient Rome Vibes
Thanks to your votes, we headed to Palatine Hill next, one of Rome’s seven legendary hills and the birthplace of the city. Surrounded by ancient ruins and lush gardens, we were transported back to the days of ancient Rome. Palatine Hill offers incredible views, and we took full advantage of them to snap some memorable shots.
On our way to lunch, we strolled through Piazza Venezia and grabbed a quick, delicious Italian meal. Then, we made a nostalgic visit to a beloved leather shop we discovered a decade ago. Recreating a photo we took back then was a fun moment!
The Trevi Fountain at Night
We wrapped up the day with a stop at the breathtaking Trevi Fountain. The crowds were intense, so we decided to return the next morning to experience it in a quieter setting.
Day 2: Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, and Vatican City
Returning to the Trevi Fountain early the next day, we tossed our coins and made our wishes—it’s a must-do tradition! Afterward, we climbed the Spanish Steps, another iconic Roman spot, to enjoy panoramic views of the city.
Our last stop was Vatican City—the world’s smallest independent state, rich in history and spirituality. We explored St. Peter’s Basilica, one of the world’s most beautiful churches, which took over 120 years to complete!
Final Thoughts on Rome Italy
Rome is crowded but bursting with culture, history, and timeless charm. We’re grateful to everyone who joined us on this journey and helped shape our experience! Don’t forget to check out our video and give it a thumbs-up if you enjoyed our Instagram-guided tour of the Eternal City.
