WELCOME TO KUWAIT!!! 🇰🇼❤️ First Impressions of Hottest City on Earth 😳
Hey guys! Join us as we explore the vibrant and captivating Kuwait City! Our short Arabian adventure began in Kathmandu, Nepal, where we boarded a flight to Kuwait that gave us the opportunity to get a stunning view of Mt. Everest.
Arrival in Kuwait and Visa Process
Upon arriving in Kuwait, we faced a two-hour visa process. It moved quite slowly even though there wasn't a line, so if you ever find yourself traveling to Kuwait, we recommend getting an online visa instead of an on-arrival one. Needless to say, we were not prepared for the scorching 40+ degree heat. Exhausted, we went straight to our Airbnb and slept the whole night.

Exploring Kuwait with a Local Friend
Traveling the world, we’ve learned that locals make every tour much easier and more enjoyable. They know all the best spots around town and everything worth seeing. This time, we were lucky to have Elma, a friend we met in Seoul, Korea, who asked us to call her whenever we got to Kuwait. And so we did. She became our guide for the day, starting with a visit to the iconic Kuwait Towers where we learned about their fascinating history.
Interesting Facts About Kuwait
Did you know that besides being one of the hottest, Kuwait is also one of the richest countries in the world? The economy of Kuwait is a wealthy petroleum-based economy. The Kuwaiti dinar is the highest-valued unit of currency in the world. According to the World Bank, Kuwait is the fifth richest country in the world by gross national income per capita.
So don't be surprised by the fact that many locals own private yachts and homes around the world where they live during the extreme Arabic summers. This is also the reason why we were able to see tons of popular brands from the western world, from fast food chains to luxurious fashion brands.
Refreshments by the Water
Feeling the heat, we stopped at a beautiful McDonald’s by the water for some refreshments. Trust us, you won't find a McDonald's with a better view than the one here in Kuwait City.
Exploring the City: Markets and Malls
Next up, we explored the bustling fish market, saw important buildings around the city, and visited the mind-blowing Avenues Mall. It’s like an indoor city with every major brand you can imagine! After a quick bite at Chili’s, we continued browsing through the mall. The temperature soared to 47°C, making it feel like we were in a dryer.
We then wandered around the vibrant Al Mubarakiya Souk, and later, tried some authentic Kuwaiti food. The next morning, after some work, we treated ourselves to Tim Horton’s Ice Caps for $10—crazy, right? As you might expect, everything is much more expensive here in Kuwait. Why? Because quite frankly they can afford it.
Must-See: Kuwait Towers
When in KC, visiting the Kuwait Towers is a must. We simply couldn't leave without witnessing the breathtaking view from the top. What used to be a water tower has been turned into a tourist attraction. The tower rotates, giving you a 360-degree view of the city.
Final Hours and Departure
As our short visit came to an end, we spent our final hours back at the Avenues Mall before catching our red-eye flight back to Europe.
