NEPAL SHOCKED US!! 🇳🇵😮 You will never believe what we saw!

Hey guys! Today, we are taking you on an unforgettable adventure through Nepal, a trip filled with some of the most unique and surprising experiences we've ever had.

 

Cable Car Ride Up Chandragiri Hills in Nepal

Our journey began with a visit to the stunning Chandragiri Hills, a bit of a hidden gem in Nepal. Located about two hours from Kathmandu, the best way to reach the top is by a 15-minute ride on a cable car. The ride itself was a bit nerve-wracking as we couldn't see through the clouds, but the view of Kathmandu from the top was absolutely worth it. The resort also offers various activities like hiking, horseback riding, ziplining, and more. The cable car ride costs $22 USD per person.

Public Cremation at Pashupatinath Temple, Nepal

Next, we visited the holiest site in Kathmandu, the Pashupatinath Temple. Here, we witnessed public cremations out in the open—a bizarre yet deeply spiritual experience that we will probably never encounter again. This, along with the presence of monkeys, made the girls decide to skip this visit. Instead, they explored local food and went shopping. The cremation was followed by an intense prayer session attended by hundreds of people along the banks of the Bagmati River.

 

Cashmere is the Perfect Gift

The following day, we went shopping for gifts, and cashmere was the obvious choice, especially in this part of the world. We then headed to Kathmandu Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the three squares within Kathmandu Valley. Durbar Square, meaning "palace" and is a significant site for Buddhist and Hindu rituals, royal events, and coronations.

 

Patan Durbar Square

Surrounded by fountains, ancient statues, small ponds, and a series of courtyards, Kathmandu Durbar Square is a meditative and religious site for spiritual seekers. Within the inner complex is the Old Royal Palaces, which housed the kings of the Shah and Malla Dynasty until the 19th century and have since been turned into museums. The outer complex features numerous pagoda-style temples with meticulously carved facades by Newar artists, some dating back to the 16th century.

 

Chantal had a sound healing session at the Himalayan Singing Bowl & Healing Center. If you ever visit Nepal, we highly recommend getting a healing bowl from this place. 

 

Night Visit of the Golden Temple in Kathmandu 

In the evening, we explored the Golden Temple, a unique Buddhist monastery just north of Durbar Square. Allegedly founded in the 12th century, it has existed in its current form since 1409. We also admired some intricate Mandalas, and a friendly salesperson explained the circle of life and the meaning of Samsara.

 

We concluded the day with a delicious meal at a local Newari Restaurant.
